SKAR Skin Architecture is a newly formed consultancy that takes a holistic approach to the design and planning of facades. The consultancy is independent of systems and suppliers, and has expertise in all aspects of the façade: architecture, construction, energy/climate/daylighting and design in BIM. As a complete and independent facade specialist, SKAR is also the first in Sweden.
- The technical requirements for buildings have gradually increased, while the commercial importance of façades as the face of the property owner or tenant has been recognised. Attracting the right target group today requires the right expression and a reassuring environmental label," says Jonas Nyberg, CEO and founder of SKAR together with Ylva Lindstedt. In SKAR, they have brought together a complete team of experts to offer façade design in one package.
- Façade consultants have long been available in the UK, US and on the continent, for example with Arup and BuroHappold. In Sweden, there are specialists in glass, but SKAR is the first complete and unbiased facade consultant in Sweden," continues Jonas Nyberg.
For the past two years, he has supported a number of architectural firms with facade design through his architectural firm YAJ Arkitekter. According to Jonas Nyberg, there is a great demand in the market for design expertise in facades. He also sees a clear skills gap between designers and system suppliers, which has arisen as facades have become increasingly complex, which in turn makes it difficult for building contractors to deliver up to the client's expectations.

SKAR's services are aimed at real estate companies, construction companies and architectural firms - both in new construction and for face-lifts and green conversions of existing buildings. They offer A, K and V design in BIM in one package, but also customise the design constellation according to the client's needs.
The first assignment for SKAR will be facades in a new office district in Shanghai.
