In the shadow of today's big news that Atlas Copco's CEO Ronnie Leten is stepping down after eight years and that the company is now to be dismembered, other interesting things happened on the periphery at the headquarters in Sickla in Stockholm.
Tikab demonstrated how VR technology can be used to visualize their products in virtual environments.
VR as a planning tool
The team at Atlas was also able to evaluate future traditional event solutions on a scale of 1:1 during the planning phase. Is the space sufficient for the assumed visitor volume? Does the message get across clearly enough even if the spaces are filled with people?
For the first time, we used over 100 virtual people in motion to simulate visitors, both those walking around the VR environment and those standing and talking in different clusters. At first, the human VR visitors were a little worried about disturbing the digital virtual visitors, but quickly noticed that they could walk right through them.
It may sound trivial and that you should perhaps have more sensible things to do in your working hours than "playing" with this year's Christmas present. In fact, today you actually got to see what their vision of an event will be like in 6 months. That can be worth a lot when it comes to tweaking and adapting the content to be top notch on the day it's crunch time.
RR - Real Reality
As a thank you for the VR presentation, we at Tikab were able to visit Atlas Copco's own mine below the headquarters in Sickla. In the mine, they have been testing their drilling equipment since its inception 60 years ago. Testing is still going on today at a depth of 40 meters. The former locations are now used as exhibition space. Those of us who work a lot in VR clearly had to admit that RR (Real Reality) 🙂 isn't all bad either. Especially not in this beautiful setting.
Tikab has over 20 years of experience in 3D visualization and animation. Over the past year, demand has shifted from traditional visualization to solely VR experiences.
Are you interested in seeing what it would mean to have your product range available in VR or to visualise your upcoming exhibition stand or mobile roadshow? Drop by for a VR coffee or invite us to your home and we'll bring the equipment. We have examples from many industries!
